LIVKONTROL QUICKSTART GUIDE
25/11/2011

First of all, we'd like to thank you for buying LIVKONTROL. There was a huge step taken from creating such an application until it's release at Apple's App Store. LIVKONTROL was built for simplicity so don't expect to configure IP addresses or complicated network scenarios. We made it to be as much plug and play as possible. So, let's get started.

The first thing you need to do is download LKBRIDGE, a small utility that will serve as proxy between your iPad and Ableton Live. You can do it here.

LKBRIDGE is composed of two components. The first is a small application called LKBRIDGE which you will need to run everytime you want to use LIVKONTROL with your Ableton Live. The second component is a series of scripts that will reside inside your Ableton Live installation and will make it possible for LIVKONTROL to control Ableton. Since your installation can be in a different location from the standard, you will need to copy these scripts into the Ableton Live's folder yourself. To find your Ableton Live installation folder, use the right button to click on the Ableton Live application, select "Show package contents" and go through Contents->App-Resources->MIDI Remote Scripts and copy the LIVKONTROL folder.

The next step is to confirm that LIVKONTROL was correctly installed on Ableton Live. For that, open Ableton Live and then open Preferences. In the Preferences panel go to the MIDI Sync tab and select an empty Control Surface item, click on the combo box and search for LIVKONTROL.

If you can't find a LIVKONTROL item on that list, then you have probably placed LIVKONTROL folder in the wrong place. If it is present, select it and close Preferences.

If you can't find a LIVKONTROL item on that list, then you have probably placed the LIVKONTROL folder in the wrong place. If it is there, select it and close Preferences. Now you can open the LKBRIDGE application. If you haven't copied LKBRIDGE from the DMG you downloaded into the applications folder, you should do it now. Otherwise, go to your applications folder and open LKBRIDGE. When that is done, a small icon will appear in the system bar, next to the clock.

Now that everything is up and running it's time to open LIVKONTROL on your iPad. If everything went perfectly, you should have Live session mirrored on your LIVKONTROL application.
